Need help with your lit review?

The library has you covered! You can attend of the online library webinars, full of tips to help you with the literature review process, including the elements of an effective literature review, the five steps of literature review process, and tools and techniques you can use to organize your search

Searching? Don't forget about CTRL+F!

Do you know how to use your computer's "find function," commonly known as “CTRL-F? If you do, you're in the minority. According to an article in The Atlantic, 90% of users don’t know how to use CTRL+F or Command+F to search a webpage.

Knowing how to use the find function can save you a lot of time, and it’s available in web browsers, PDF documents, and word processing software.

Here is a quick video showing how to use the CTRL F feature to quickly find words in a webpage or online PDF document:

There are several other useful shortcuts you can use by pressing both the Control key and another key. Here are some of the most commonly used ones:

CTRL   C: copy the text you have highlighted.

CTRL   V: paste the copied text.

CTRL  Z: undo your last action.

CTRL   +: make the text larger by zooming in.

CTRL  - : make the text smaller by zooming out.

Need help with APA style?

Check out today's library online webinar on APA style at 6:00 pm. Another APA webinar is offered this Sunday, Feb. 5 at 6:00 pm. For more info on how to participate, or to view upcoming webinars, see the library's instruction schedule and website. An APA webinar is scheuled at least once per term.

The library has also created this helpful website, which inlcudes links to great APA and writing resources online, as well as in the library.

Finally, don't forget that the ALC offers one-on-one tutoring for writing and APA style. It's easy to schedule an appointment. Just go to the ALC website, or directly to the ALC online schedule.
